Hopefully something like this has never happened to you.
One bright sunny morning the entire family gathered at the park to watch my four year old and three of his cousins play in a soccer game. The four of them had tremendous support; grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles, and friends had all come out to watch, a total of 15 adults and 2 teenagers. The little kids that had come to watch their big brothers played and ran around in front of us as we cheered on our players. I took pictures trying to capture the fun family memories I thought we would look back on and treasure, but when I looked up to check on my eighteen month old son I could not see him. I asked my brother if he had seen him and he told me he was with my uncle, when I asked my uncle he told me he was with my dad. I looked up and down the side line and could not see him anywhere. I started running around the park calling his name, desperate to find my son, but there were 4 other games going on in the park that day. I ran back to my family terrified that I had not found him. Everyone immediately fanned out joining in the search; it was not very long before a bystander at one of these other games told us that a lady had just taken a little boy to the fire station located next to the park. I frantically ran there and discovered that the firemen were just about to call the police.
I am so thankful for the woman that saw him wandering by the cars and thought to take him to the Fire Station, and for the Firemen who kept him safe during those few terrifying minutes. I wished there had been a way for the woman to call me directly.
